Actually Kennedy was in Dallas because he was in deep political trouble not only in Texas but nationally, well on his way to becoming a one term President. While the riff you metioneded was fact so were his declining poll numbers and dissatisfaction with his presidency. Had Kennedy lived Goldwater may well have become president.
As Barry said in an interview sometime after the election what had he learned? He said †They said if you voted for Goldwater we would end up in a war in Asia, I did and we did.â€
